An unprecedented 6-6 tie came out of the Tobago House of Assembly Elections on 25 January, 2021. Each party won 6 district seats, and have not solved the tie leaving a caretaker government to partially run the island. 5 MONTHS have passed without a clear solution to fixing the impasse. The recent State of Emergency is no excuse in a world of Zoom.

Without a proper THA Government, Tobago cannot:

Recover from COVID19

  • Effectively manage COVID19
  • Prepare its tourism and other industries for reopening
  • Fully recover from COVID19

Perform Good Governance

  • Develop a proper budget
  • Have good executive oversight
  • Fulfill the democratic rights of tobagonians

Achieve Self-government

  • Speak with singular Tobago Leadership during the Self-Autonomy negotiations

Tell Your THA Assemblyman to Fix the Impasse Now!

Your THA Representatives were elected to listen to you, so tell them that you want them to end this 6-6 impasse and put Tobago back on track to recovery. Here are some examples of how you can engage them:

  • Call /message them on social media: "How do you plan to fix the impasse?" Contacts are below.
  • Share their answer on social media.
  • Call radio /TV to show your disgust that the impasse has reached 5 months.
  • Print out the flyer below, add the name of your Assemblyman and stick it on their office door once the State of Emergency allows.
  • Send the flyer below with their name to them on Social Media

Tobago CivilNET

The Tobago Civil Society Network (Tobago CivilNET) is a group of nonaligned nonpartisan NGOs and Citizens with the holistic development of Tobago at our core. We are a collective lobbying group for all things TOBAGO.
